There will be an emphasis on GDPR & Data Privacy Regulations. 2018 was the year of GDPR and data privacy – the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica data scandal shocked the world on March 17th and the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation came into effect on May 25th, both of which have greatly impacted online data usage and privacy. We talked a bit about this subject here, but to briefly sum up what to expect when it comes to GDPR and data privacy in 2019, the value of interactions between consumers and brands has increased exponentially. This means that personalization for the customer is hugely important because at the end of the day authentic interactions are what matter now. If successfully carried out, authentic interactions will ultimately demonstrate to consumers that brands respect them…and their data, and that they’re not just using them to increase revenue. Add value to your customers’ lives and in doing so, you’ll drive revenue.
Content is everything..still. We’ve said it before and we’ll keep saying it – content helps you win! As one website puts it, “You already know that you need to entice your audience: inspire them, provoke their thoughts, excite them, or appeal to their emotions. The goal is to not simply put content in front of people and hope they respond to it, but rather encourage them to share and engage with it.” At the end of the day, content is a means to establish a deeper connection with your audience and help them learn something new. In doing so, there’ll be a greater level of trust between you and your customers, plus it shows them just how much you appreciate them! AI will continue to grow. In the last year, we’ve seen quite the shift towards artificial intelligence and the many ways it can help businesses and improve their processes. This isn’t to say that AI doesn’t have its downsides either, but get used to AI because it’s not going anywhere this year. Whether it assists in monitoring customers’ online patterns and behaviors, installing Chatbots on your website, analyzing data more efficiently, or simply performing tasks that are difficult for humans, it is important to keep it in mind in the coming months and consider the possibility of implementing it in your company.
Get ahead with voice search. According to Search Engine Land, nearly 52% of people wish their voice-activated speakers would share sales, deals, and promotions from their favorite brands with them. Plus, voice-based sales in the United States reached $1.8 billion and is predicted to reach $40 billion by 2022. So, if there’s any time to jump on the voice-search bandwagon, now is the time. Alexa and Siri aren’t going anywhere anytime soon…
